Welcome!   This is the Ohio Jobs and Justice PAC (OJJPAC) website.  OJJPAC is a non-partisan educational civil rights and advocacy organization focusing on important public policy issues that affect Ohio and the nation.  It is a resource used by public officials, journalists, academics, and citizen activists since 2005. 

OJJPAC's educational and advocacy initiatives during 2011-2012 will focus on the effects of illegal immigration on the civil rights of American citizens, the economy, U.S. sovereignty, and post 9-11 national security.  This website does not avoid controversy, nor written to primarily amuse or entertain, but to inform, arouse thought and action, educate, question, and sometime challenge common beliefs.

Another Illegal Alien Suspect In Hazleton, PA Murder

Hazleton, PA-- A drive into Hazleton treats the town visitor to spectacular views of Pennsylvania's mountain landscapes.  Unfortunately, the streets of Hazleton are less tranquil according to long-time residents dismayed by increasing crime--punctuated by reports of last weeks murder of Cesar Robles.

One resident directed me to the intersection of Green and Wyoming, in which he stated four people have been murdered there over the past few years.

Another life-long resident said that Hazleton used to be a great place to raise a family until the "infiltrators" [illegal aliens] began to move to Hazleton during the 1990's and kept coming--resulting in an increase in gang activity, illegal narcotics trafficking, and crime.   Story to be continued...

Mayor to Congressman, Barletta continues fight for Hazleton's citizens

Mayor Louis J. Barletta believes that the United States is the greatest nation on Earth and is a place where people's dreams can come true--and he wants to keep it that way.

As mayor of Hazleton, a small city in Pennsylvania,  Barletta had first-hand knowledge of the  numerous problems that  illegal migration brought to local communities.

While Barletta welcomed legal immigrants to Hazleton, he witnessed illegal aliens taking advantage of his community by draining resources, displacing native workers, and engaging in criminal activities--including illegal drugs and murder.

In order to maintain the quality of life that residents in Hazleton had grown to expect, the mayor supported city ordinances that would make it more difficult for illegal aliens to settle in Hazleton.

With Mayor Barletta's support, the City of Hazleton passed two ordinances.  Ordinance 2006-13, known as the Rental Registration Ordinance, which requires renters to apply for an occupancy permit and include proof of legal residency.  Ordinance 2006-18, known as the Illegal Immigration Relief Act, prohibits persons or businesses in Hazleton from harboring or employing illegal aliens.

However, soon after the ordinances were passed,  they were challenged in federal court by the ACLU of Pennsylvania (and its Immigrants' Rights Project), the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund, the Community Justice Project, Cozen O'Connor, and several area attorneys.

 The plaintiffs' argued that the city was violating the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution and peoples' due process and equal protection rights.

In July, 2007, District Court Judge James Munley ruled that Hazleton's two ordinances were unconstitutional and issued a restraining order prohibiting the city from enforcing the ordinances. 

 The city of Hazleton responded by appealing Judge Munley's decision in the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals.  Barletta also established a legal defense fund to help collecting private donations  to defray the city's mounting legal bills.

In September, 2010, the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals upheld  District Court Judge Munley's decision, citing a number of constitutional problems with the ordinances--including that Hazleton's ordinances would preempt federal law--specifically the Immigration Reform and Control Act and the Immigration and Nationality Act.

Not surprised that the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals sided with the lower District Court, Barletta maintained the the ordinances were constitutional and promised to appeal the 3rd Circuit Court's order.

U.S. Supreme Court Vacates Order

In June, 2011, soon after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in a similar case to Hazelton's ( U.S. Chamber of Commerce vs. Whiting), the Court vacated and remanded the 3rd Circuit Appellate Court's decision against Hazleton.

In August, 2011, the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals vacated its Hazleton decision.  The Appellate Court will now  review updated briefs by those parties supporting and opposing Hazleton's ordinances and set a date for oral argument prior to releasing another decision.

                      8-4-11 Jobs Protest:   Fresh Mark, Inc. (Sugardale)

Salem, Ohio -- Citizens concerned with the fairness of the hiring practices of a large meat processing plant in Salem, Ohio, rallied outside the plant's gate with signs and banners Wednesday.  The protest was sponsored by the Ohio Valley Tea Party and the Campaign for Liberty.

Former and current employees at Fresh Mark, Inc., allege that Fresh Mark is increasingly hiring Mexican and Guatemalan labor rather than American workers from Columbiana and surrounding counties.

A call to Fresh Mark's corporate office requesting statistics on the makeup of the Salem plant's labor force was not returned.

One current worker (who wanted to remain anonymous for fear of losing his job), estimated that Hispanic workers comprise 50% percent of first shift workers; with even a larger percentage of Mexican and Guatemalan workers' working second and third shifts at the Salem plant.

According to census figures, Hispanics comprise only 0.6% percent of the population in Salem and 1.17% in Columbiana County, Ohio. 

If the whistleblower's statistics are accurate, it begs the question why the Fresh Mark workforce does not even remotely reflect the racial/ethnic makeup of the community and region.

Salem's residents appear to agree with that something is wrong at the Fresh Mark plant--as

The most disturbing allegation made by several different people at the protest was that Hispanic children also work at the plant.   One current employee of Fresh Mark stated that he has spoken to a Hispanic worker who admitted to being 15-years-old.  It was alleged by another person that when regulators visit the plant, some of the workers are hidden away until they leave.

According to  a recent news article in the Salem News, a Fresh Mark spokesperson stated that its hiring practices are in full compliance with federal law and that it uses the E-Verify program to screen new hires for authorization to work in the United States.

However, a recent government sponsored report concluded that the E-Verify program fails to identify over half of illegal alien workers because they are using stolen valid Social Security numbers.

Will these "energy savings" light bulbs help the environment or end up polluting it?  They are certainly helping to send American jobs to China.

Why is our government forcing Ohioans to buy millions of toxic mercury laced light bulbs -- made in a communist nation that has lax environmental laws and points nuclear missiles at our cities?

It makes no sense.

The new energy saving bulbs contain mercury.  So if you break a bulb you need to evacuate the room and initiate other protocols to prevent mercury contamination of your family and pets.  How many adults let alone children will know what to do?

Non-toxic light bulbs were once made in Ohio and other states by American labor.  Now corporations have or will shut down their U.S. plants and make these toxic light bulbs in communist China where there are lax health and environmental laws.

Ohio State House News (June-2011):

Columbus, OH-- The Ohio Senate Local & State Government & Veterans Affairs Committee met June 15th to hear testimony regarding S.B. 171 sponsored by State Senator Karen Gilmor (R-Tiffin). S.B. 171  incorporates the recommendations of the Ohio legislature's Sunset Review Committee--of which Gilmor was a member.  The Sunset Review Committee has recommended the legislature consolidate and abolish a number of Ohio commissions.  The Ohio Senate Local & State Government & Veterans Affairs Committee voted S.B. 171 out of Committee.

Not on the Sunset Review Committee's abolishment list was the Ohio Commission on Hispanic/Latino Affairs (OCHLA), something that Steve Salvi, founder of Ohio Jobs & Justice PAC and a number of other citizen activists would like to change.

"OCHLA" has been using Ohio tax dollars to advocate for illegal aliens for years, and that's wrong," Salvi said.  He stated that OCHLA has a record of supporting the creation of sanctuary cities for illegal aliens, promoting the distribution and acceptance of fraud prone matricula counsular ID cards, opposing enforcement of immigration laws, and supporting amnesty for millions of illegal aliens in Ohio and the U.S.

Other Ohioans attending the hearing gave similar accounts in their testimony and Senator Gilmore stated that she would address the concerns of those testifying in favor of amending SB171 to add OCHLA to the list of Commissions to be abolished.

Citizens in Washington State gathering signatures to bypass illegal alien pandering legislature

Good luck to Craig Keller, Co-founder of Respect Washington which has launched an initiative petition drive called "Respect for Law." It makes sanctuaries for illegal aliens a state crime, mandates E-Verify, and requires verification of citizenship to vote and legal presence to obtain a driver's license.

Will Communist China sell-off much of it's estimated $1 Trillion in US currency?  It has been reported that 10% China's cash reserves are now in US dollars--$1 trillion of them!  But since the US dollar has slid in value (costing China an estimated $300 billion), rumors are circulating that the Chinese want to sell-off much of its reserve in US greenbacks and buy Euros instead.  

The tricky part for the Chinese is how to sell a big block of USD's without causing a world-wide currency panic that would further devaluate the US dollar--before they could unload the lot.  If the Chinese do dump a lot of US dollars on the market, the implications for the US could be severe.  6-10-11 UPDATE:  This article was first posted in 2009.  Over the past year, China has dumped a significant amount of U.S. Treasury bonds.  I suspect the Chinese are putting their money into gold now.

    Hispanic/Latino ethnocentric groups have become so frustrated with the Democratic Party's failure to pass an amnesty for millions of illegal aliens (the majority of which are Hispanic/Latino) they have been contemplating the formation of their own ethnic political party.  Read story here.  A May, 2011 Christian Science Monitor story indicates that supporters of the Tequila Party concept are already organizing for the 2012 presidential election.

     The truth behind the failure of Democrats to fulfill the quid pro quo bid for Latino votes is that the American public overwhelmingly oppose rewarding people who broke U.S. law with amnesty and citizenship. Unlike Hispanic/Latino cultures where corruption is  rampant and the rule of law does not exist, Americans overwhelmingly understand and support the rule of law.     The Democrats in Congress as a result could not get the votes in Congress to pass an amnesty.

OJJPAC note:  Some members of the public are understandably skeptical about this document's validity after a two year delay in its release.  However, it should be considered valid until there is solid evidence to the contrary.  The document should certainly be reviewed by several questions documents examiners to either validate the document or determine if it's a forgery.  It will likely be one of the most examined documents in history now.

Will U.S. Congress act on many immigration enforcement bills?

Washington, D.C.--Although the budget impasse has been getting most of the media attention lately, other bills are being introduced in Congress too.  A number of immigration enforcement bills have been introduced, including Duncan Hunter's HR 1134 that would defund "sanctuary cities;" the LEAVE Act; HR 704 a/k/a the Security & Fairness Enhancement for America Act of 2011 (SAFE); HR 100 a/k/a the CLEAR Act; HR 800 a/k/a/ E-Law Act which would mandate the use of the E-Verify program; HR 140 which addresses the "anchor baby" birthright citizenship issue; and many more.

Illegal alien friendly House Democrats and Republicans will find it difficult to stop some enforcement legislation from passing because of the size of the Republican caucus in the House.  (Hopefully new House Speaker John Boehner who has shown little interest in immigration enforcement during his time in congress won't interfere.)   The U.S. Senate presents a greater challenge since Democrats still control  that chamber.  However, some enforcement legislation may be palatable (and politically expedient) enough to strip off sufficient votes from Senate Democrats to pass.   Perhaps a mandatory E-Verify bill fits that description.  It can be argued that the E-Verify program is cost effective to businesses, errs in favor of the applicant, and helps maintain a legal workforce--and primarily protects low income wage earners who (in my opinion) are  most likely to be displaced by illegal foreign workers.

Thousands of illegal aliens successfully enter the U.S. and evade apprehension EVERY DAY because Napolitano and the Obama administration refuse to use the resources required to stop it.

According to law, a man must register with Selective Service within 30 days of his 18th birthday. Selective Service will accept late registrations but not after a man has reached age 26. You may be denied benefits or a job if you have not registered. You can register at any U.S. Post Office and do not need a social security number. When you do obtain a social security number, let Selective Service know. Provide a copy of your new social security number card; being sure to include your complete name, date of birth, Selective Service registration number, and current mailing address; and mail to the Selective Service System, P.O. Box 94636, Palatine, IL 60094-4636.

OJJPAC note (by Steve Salvi):  According to a radio interview (I heard on Radio WTAM 1100) on March 16th, the DOJ has held up the city of Dayton's hiring process so long that the city has been forced to accept (and not appeal) the DOJ's demand for lowering test score standards for at least some classes of minority candidates.  Supposedly Dayton has so few officers now due to retirements, that the city must hire officers even if they failed their exams.  In my opinion, the DOJ's actions actually harms minorities by undermining those current and future police candidates that are well qualified minorities.  The DOJ's actions will also cause resentment of well qualified non-minority candidates that basically get the shaft.

Female Genital Mutilation 

Questions for your cultural diversity study group: Since many Ethiopian immigrants living in the U.S. continue to quietly practice their culture of  female genital  mutilation in the shadows of our communities, should Congress make female mutilation legal so immigrants can have the ritual cutting, stitching, and binding performed in hospitals?  Should Medicare,  Medicaid, or other taxpayer funded program pay for the procedure if an immigrant family is too poor to pay for the surgery?  Discuss.

The U.S. Department of State reports that in Ethiopia, it is culturally encouraged to mutilate a female's genitals.  In fact, in a study of 65 of the country's 80 ethnic groups, over 70% of the female population had some form of female genital mutilation.  The practice also take place in 27 other  African countries. Many immigrants continue the mutilation practice in the U.S.

Here is one female genital mutilation cultural practice:  Type III

Type III is the excision (removal) of part or all of the external genitalia (clitoris, labia minora and labia majora) and stitching or narrowing of the vaginal opening, leaving a very small opening, about the size of a matchstick, to allow for the flow of urine and menstrual blood. The girl or woman's legs are then bound together from the hip to the ankle so she remains immobile for approximately 40 days to allow for the formation of scar tissue. [OJJPAC note: In the U.S. we call this torture, for them it's a normal behavior.]

GOP House Leadership picks Gallegly over King for Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration Chairmanship

One of Congress' most reliable voices on border security issue lost his immigration subcommittee chairmanship gavel this week likely because of GOP party politics.  Rep. Steve King's (R-Iowa) passion for solving our nation's illegal immigration problem is not shared by everyone in his own political party--especially left leaning Republicans, not so fondly known as RINO's--Republicans in name only.

Rep. King has been one of the few reliable and outspoken allies on immigration enforcement issues in the U.S. House of Representatives during House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's rein.  King has opposed amnesty or illegal aliens, the nightmarish DREAM Act, and has supported E-Verify and other immigration enforcement measures during his time in the U.S. House.

The new chairman, Rep. Elton Gallegly (R-CA), has an excellent pro-immigration enforcement voting record in congress.  Will Gallegly becomes as aggressive and outspoken on illegal immigration issues as Steve King, now vice-chairman of the committee?  That is what we will find out in 2011.  Let's hope Gallegly doesn't feel obligated to tow the GOP party line (which is soft on illegal immigration) and works aggressively to solve our nation's long-time hemorrhaging border crisis.

State's like New Mexico put the United States at risk because their drivers licensing laws and or policies don't require proof of legal residency--which have made them the go-to states for illegal aliens who desire to be in the U.S..

Once an illegal alien or terrorist obtains a valid U.S. drivers license, that license can be use to obtain other valid ID which can be used to establish themselves in a community and carry out additional illegal activities, such as illegal narcotics distribution and ID theft.  Read story here.

OJJPAC note:  The cost to U.S. taxpayers just for K-12 education for these U.S. born children is approximately $32 billion dollars!  The cost to American taxpayers is approximately $3.2 trillion dollars each decade.

The additional cost of educating the millions of children brought illegally into the U.S. by their parents takes away billions of dollars more from American families who are already facing hard financial times.  Is this situation unfair and unjust?  Yes--which is why the public demands enforcement of our immigration laws.

Calculation process:  Average cost per pupil is roughly $7-10k per year multiplied by 12 years (K-12th grade), times 320,000  students (3.2 million students over a decade).

Battle over Amnesty for millions of illegal alien criminals on again--Obama Administration going for broke in 2010?

While the Obama administration plots with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on how to pass a massive amnesty for millions of illegal aliens, the passage of a new state law in Arizona has illegal aliens and their supporters scared and scurrying to stop other states from following Arizona's lead.  The ACLU and other groups have already been sending their supporters in other states  instructions to contact their state legislators and governors in an attempt to stop the introduction of similar bills.

Roy Beck, President of NumbersUSA was interviewed on PBS News tonight discussing the implications of the new Arizona law and President Obama's desire to grant amnesty to millions of illegal alien criminals.

Steve Salvi, founder of OJJPAC.org stated that many legislators will wait to learn the outcome of anticipated court challenges to the Arizona law before introducing their own version of the Arizona statute.  Salvi also stated that the Obama administration is either making some noise about amnesty now to appease his leftist supporters or he sees that his public support is so low that he has little to lose at this point and much to gain if he can sign an amnesty bill into law.   Note:  This article was written earlier in the year and now seemingly proven accurate.

 Should U.S. public and corporate diversity programs support and protect  the cultural practice of Iranian  immigrants regarding women wearing headscarves for photographs?  Should the U.S. Congress legislate special provisions allowing Iranian immigrants to  stone people if they commit adultery since it is their custom?

If the U.S. fails to allow Iranian immigrants to to punish people according to their law or customs, does that make the U.S. intolerant to other cultures or perhaps racist?

How does the Iranian culture benefit Americans?  (Please list five examples how Iranian culture contributes to our great melting pot.)

If diversity is our goal, should the U.S. embrace Iranian culture and adopt their criminal penal code which would greatly diversify punishment options and acts that would be classified as crimes? Why or why not?  Explain.

With the unprecedented influx of millions of legal and illegal immigrants into the United States, many new and diverse cultural practices are now being "celebrated" in the United States.

Iranians for example have strict rules regarding the wearing of headscarves and adultery.  One woman reportedly got a sentence of 99 lashes for her "indecency" for getting photographed without her headscarf.  The same woman was sentenced to dealth by stoning for adultery.

The death sentence has reportedly been suspended due to international political pressure on the Iranian government.

A Cultural Practices in India: Tantrik Ritual Killings

An Indian couple who had a daughter but desired to have a boy, arranged for the kidnapping of a 6-year-old neighbor at the advice of a tantrik (a spiritualist practitioner of tantrism).  Once kidnapped,  they mutilated and killed the 6-year-old boy while chanting mantras (in order to leverage supernatural powers to have their own son).  

The Hindustan Times reported 25 human sacrifices in just the western Uttar Pradesh in a 6 month period.  Although the cultural practice is illegal in India, it is still practiced by millions of people in Indian society.  Although the practice supposedly came from Hinduism, some Buddhists and Muslims also practice tantrism.  Some tantriks say human sacrifice is not necessary since animals can also be killed as a sacrifice. Other Indian tantrics say there are ways to treat clients without any human or animal sacrifice.

Question:  Are people who believe in human sacrifice able to obtain a visa and or permanent residence in the U.S.? 

[Note: I know it is politically incorrect but OJJPAC wants to go on the record as opposing both human sacrifices and animal sacrifices.  Please excuse us for not not celebrating this aspect of cultural diversity.]
