Sample script: "Hello.  I don't agree with Gov. Kasich's decision to give Ohio drivers licenses to people illegally in the U.S.

Giving Ohio drivers licenses to unknown illegal foreign nationals poses a serious threat to national security and the safety of all Ohioans.  We should have learned that lesson on 9-11, when terrorists used multiple drivers licenses to attack us.

Please order the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles to stop issuing Ohio drivers licenses to illegal foreign nationals.  Thank you."

Sample script:  Hello, I don't agree with the Kasich administrations' decision to give Ohio drivers licenses to foreign nationals illegally in the U.S.

I am calling today to request that you reintroduce H.B. 114 from the 130th General Assembly that clarifies Ohio law so Illegal Aliens, including those classified as DACA aliens, are expressly prohibited from obtaining Ohio drivers licenses.

Driving is a privilege and Ohio should not reward or advance the legitimacy of any alien who has violated our immigration laws.

In addition, granting legitimate ID's to illegal aliens is a public safety issue.  As we learned on 9-11-2001, terrorists used weaknesses in drivers licenses laws to obtain multiple drivers licenses which assisted them in carrying out their attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.  Let's not continue to make the same mistakes. Thank you!

The Kasich administration chose to change OBMV policy due to  President Obama's controversial 2012  Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) prosecutorial discretion executive order.   Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine, a past Amnesty supporter, choose to interpret Obama's order as allowing some illegal aliens to obtain driving licenses.

Former State Representative Matt Lynch (R-Chagrin Falls) sponsored Ohio House Bill 114 last legislative session (130th General Assembly) in response to the Kasich administration's decision to give Ohio drivers licenses to illegal aliens.   H.B. 114 would have clarified current Ohio law, specifically prohibiting the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles from giving drivers licenses to illegal aliens (people in the U.S. illegally).  The bill unfortunately died in committee during the fall of 2014.

A Mexican Illegal Alien caused this fatal accident on one of Ohio's roadways.  Although convicted, the Mexican man spent less than a year in jail and is now free.  The man he killed was a loving husband and father...who now is survived by a grieving widow and young daughter who will grow up never knowing her father.

License Myths & False Arguments

Myth/False Argument:  "Granting illegal aliens licenses will make them better drivers."

There is no evidence that granting illegal aliens licenses will make them better drivers.  If you go to the Victims of Illegal Aliens Memorial, you will find that nearly all vehicle crashes by illegal aliens were caused by the alien driving drunk.  Drivers licenses don't stop drunks from driving.

Myth/False Argument:  "Applicants for the Obama administration's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) are eligible for drivers licenses under Ohio law."

The supporters of DACA applicants are applying creative interpretation of Ohio Law and residency to assert eligibility for drivers licenses.   The Ohio Administrative Code (when interpreted using common sense) prohibits illegal aliens from receiving drivers licenses.

Myth/False Argument:  "Illegal aliens are driving anyway, why not give them licenses? Illegal aliens will then buy insurance which will reduce the cost of uninsured claims."

There is no evidence that giving illegal aliens driving licenses will encourage them buy auto insurance.  If you go to the Victims of Illegal Aliens Memorial, you will find that nearly all illegal aliens involved in auto accidents are also hit-and-run drivers.  They don't stay at accident scenes in order to exchange auto insurance cards.

Myth/False Argument:  "If Illegal Aliens have drivers licenses, law enforcement will  at least know who they are."

False.  The problem with this argument is that many Illegal Aliens have one or more alias and stolen ID's. Giving illegal aliens a drivers licenses based on false information only assists in legitimizing a false or stolen identity.   Law enforcement routinely  find multiple ID's on Illegal Aliens.  Some illegal aliens have drivers licenses from different states, which help them commit a variety of crimes.  One of the most well known cases involved the 9-11 hijackers who used multiple drivers licenses to carryout their acts of  terrorism.

Myth/False Argument:  "Illegal Aliens are already here, so why not let them drive?"

This is the 'surrender' argument.  It asserts the false argument that nothing can be done about the millions of Illegal Aliens already in the U.S.--so just capitulate to their demands for licenses.

However, this argument is false.  Better options are available, such as demanding that the federal government begin enforce existing immigration laws.  Illegal aliens will also begin to "self-deport" (leave on their own) if the government removes incentives such as social service benefits (cash and services), earned income credit checks, employment opportunities, and also begins to aggressively enforces existing immigration laws.
